Actions of evil people are closely associated with the wrong desires or even in appropriate means to achieve the end among others. This discussion explores the concept of evil in an attempt to justify that Chainman Mao is actually evil contrary to the opinion that other people hold.Definition and types of evilThe concept of evil as discussed by Baumeister in his literature is put into various categories. Some of the definations of evil as discused by Baumeister closely relates to the conduct of Chairman Mao (180). A lot of litratures has been wr itten concerning the achievement of Chairman Mao especially on the development of Republic of China. In fact many people attribute the success of modern China to the foundations that were laid by Chairman Mao. According to Lease, in spite of these the desires and the means to realize his goals are closely associated with evil (2011). First, Baumeister explanation of instrumental evil can be linked to the conduct of Chairman Mao. According to Baumeister instrumental evil refers to a situation where those people in power considers the victims suffering as a secondary issue as long as they are going achieve the end. Instrumental evil is closely related to the life and the era of Chairman Mao in several ways. During the 1960s when China was experiencing Cultural Revolution, Mao oppressed many people through imprisonment and torture to enable him achieves a political end. Such torture however was never known for a very long time since the government they had access and control of inform ation. Besides, China was an independent state enjoying legitimacy thus it was shielded from external influence by other countries concerning his internal activities. In deed, some litratures sources put the estimated number of people who were tortured by the regime of Chairman Mao to over 2 million victims which is quite a big number.Chairman Mao also exploited vengeful evil to oppress the Chines People. Baumeister argues that vengeful evil is conducted when people feel that there existence is threaten. Before Chairman Mao took over power in China, the country was controlled by dynasties. Besides, it found that China has suffered in the hand of Western Powers. In this case there was a strong desire to build a stronger China in terms of military and economy development. Chairman Mao managed to build a strong communism country by declaring that all property belongs to the state. In this case people who refused to hand over their property to the state were embarrassed and their prop erties were taken forcefully by the state. Mao Zedong was keen on improving his image especially after his policy of Agricultural and steel production resulted into the deaths of many Chinese thus he introduce the Cultural Revolution that could help build his image.Additionally, it was based on vengeful desire that Mao Zedong had keen interest in controlling the Chinas population. Chairman Mao is in record for opposing any theory that advocated for China to control its population growth rate as the population theory advanced by Ma Yinchus. Based on historical injustice that China experienced in the hands of the west, Chairman Mao during an international conference that brought members of Workers party together he called for communism countries to wipe capitalist nations. In fact Chairman Mao so no mistake is sacrificing half of its population for purposes of war (Mobo 2010). According to Mao the objective of such war was to clear the camp of the capitalist countries. In connection to this, Mao Zedong took the initiative to develop atomic bomb in the year 1958 in readiness to tackle the capitalist nations which he considered as the strongest enemies of China.Arguments that show Chairman Mao is goodChairman Maos ability to restore some level of accountability as well as fight corruption is a credit on his regime. Before, the era of Mao Zedong, China was majorly controlled by the few rich individuals who worked closely under the leadership of Chiang. During this time many people were suffered several abuses such as humiliation and torture amo ng others.
